Paminklas Mahatmai Gandžiui ir Hermanui Kalenbachui Rusnėje

In 2015, a monument was unveiled on the Atmata River embankment in Rusnė to honor Mahatma Gandhi, the father of the Indian nation, and his comrade, Rusnė native Hermann Kallenbach. They are often referred to as soulmates – friends and companions in struggle.
Gandhi and Kallenbach, who had left Rusnė in his youth, met in South Africa in the early 20th century. Over time, Kallenbach became not only a close friend of Gandhi, but also a financial supporter of his ideas of nonviolent resistance.
Leading the fight against British rule in India, Gandhi is considered the founder of the political tactic of nonviolent resistance.
The sculpture was created by renowned Lithuanian sculptor Romualdas Kvintas.
