Opening of the Photography Exhibition “Red Bricks of the Klaipėda Region”

On February 4, 2026 (Wednesday), at 5:30 PM, the opening of the photography exhibition “Red Bricks of the Klaipėda Region” (Raudonos Klaipėdos krašto plytos) will take place at Šilutė Hugo Šojus Museum (Lietuvininkų St. 4, Šilutė (Lietuvininkų g. 4, Šilutė)).

The exhibition tells the history of the Klaipėda Region through the destinies of red brick buildings – architecture as a testimony to history, culture, social processes, and the regional identity of the Klaipėda Region. It is a great opportunity to explore the region’s past through visual material.

Participants of the opening event:
– Prof. Dr. Vasilijus Safronovas, historian, Klaipėda University BRIAI,
– Edita Valinčienė, Head of the public institution “Raudonos plytos”.

During the event, the exhibition will be presented, followed by a mini lecture dedicated to the historical, cultural, social, and architectural context of the Klaipėda Region.

The exhibition was initiated by the public institution “Raudonos plytos”, a non-governmental organization operating on a voluntary basis. In its activities, it seeks to educate the public about the culture of the Klaipėda Region, strengthen historical and cultural awareness, regional identity, and responsibility for the preservation of cultural heritage. The organization operates nationwide in the fields of education, culture, and heritage, presenting the region’s history through engaging, easy-to-understand, and publicly accessible content.
