Starting from January 1, 2023, the Information System of Public Information Producers and Disseminators (VIRSIS) becomes operational. Users of this system will be able to publicly and freely search, view, and analyze data in accordance with Article 24, Part 1 of the Law on Provision of Information to the Public of the Republic of Lithuania, concerning public information producers and disseminators (legal entities) registered in Lithuania — including media outlets, publishers, advertising and public relations agencies, independent creators, and other information providers. The system provides data on:
management;
shareholders and participants;
types of public information activities;
media tools (types and categories) and persons responsible for their content;
serious professional violations and breaches of professional ethics;
held licenses and determined annual fees;
publication circulation and its verification (if conducted);
income received from political advertising;
funds received from public sector entities;
support from individuals or legal entities exceeding 10 BSI per calendar year (from January 1, 2023, one BSI = EUR 49), and the sources of that support.
