Minijos kaimas ir Minijos upė

Located at the mouth of the Minija River, the village—better known as Mingė—was first mentioned in records in 1540. The main occupation of the villagers was fishing in the richest waters of the Curonian Lagoon. In winter, some engaged in ice fishing or cutting reeds in the frozen marshlands of Kniaupė Bay.
Within the scenic Nemunas Delta Regional Park, Mingė is notable for its unique “river street”—there are no bridges, and locals use boats or pedal boats to cross. Known as the Little Venice of Lithuania, villagers refer to it as a “small Lithuanian Venice” for its charm and landscape.
Today, Mingė is developing rapidly as a center for rural and water tourism. It caters to anglers, sailors, and anyone wanting to boat, water-ski, or enjoy peaceful time in nature. The village also features a well-equipped yacht marina.
Mingė is one of the most visited places in Šilutė district.
