Prezidento Kazio Griniaus tiltas Šlažų kaime

Located near Šilutė, on the way to Rusnė, the President Kazys Grinius Bridge (also known as the Šlažai Bridge) spans a floodplain near the village of Žalgiriai. Every spring, the Neman River floods the lowlands of Rusnė surroundings. To cope with this, a bridge was built in 1926 across the flood channel.
This unique bridge does not connect two riverbanks — it is designed solely to allow spring meltwaters to flow through. The structure features 13 arches and spans 289 meters in length.
On June 17, 2016, to mark the 90th anniversary of the bridge’s construction, a commemorative relief plaque with a portrait of President Kazys Grinius was unveiled. The bridge was officially named in his honor.
