Next to the church, at the crossroads of Degu\u010diai, Stubriai, and Medi\u0161kiemiai roads, the market square was established with trading rows. In 1906, paving with stones began. The square was surrounded by ornate brick buildings, 1 to 3 stories high.
In the postwar years, the surrounding homesteads were completely destroyed, and the old brick buildings began to deteriorate. Nevertheless, they withstood many years of Soviet neglect and disorder.
After 1990, Katy\u010diai continued to decline. During the years of independence, the three-story buildings in the square were abandoned and later demolished. Only in 2005 was the historical part of Katy\u010diai included in the Cultural Heritage Register of the Republic of Lithuania\u2014without specifying its value. <\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
