Located in the town center, the church was completed in 1842 after 17 years of construction. The architect is unknown, but the building demonstrates both refined taste and sound architectural knowledge: a harmonious, rectangular masonry structure with plastered walls.
Its most distinctive and original feature is the spacious portico, recessed into the front of the church. Surrounded by old trees, the light-colored silhouette of the church evokes the image of an ancient Greek temple.
Though the church satisfied the local congregation, the construction process was exhausting and there were not enough funds or energy left to build an impressive bell tower. Instead, a hastily built wooden structure was erected, barely matching the elegance of the church.
The bell arrived six years later, in 1848. Though small, its sound is clear and can be heard within a 2-kilometer radius on a calm day.
The organ was installed even later, around 1890.
