What comes to mind when you hear the word “secrets”? Childhood memories often surface first\u2014when kids used to dig small holes in secret spots, fill them with candy wrappers, glitter, and pebbles, cover them with a piece of glass, and then bury them under the soil. What a joy it was to discover those treasures!
\u0160ilut\u0117\u2019s \u201cSecrets\u201d is a unique project in Lithuania and Europe that reveals the city\u2019s history through elements of small architecture. These are small rooms embedded into the sidewalk and covered with glass, showcasing life from the late 19th to early 20th century in historical homes of \u0160ilut\u0117.
There are 20 of these secrets installed along Lietuvinink\u0173 Street. You can easily spot them by looking down as you walk along both sides of the street\u2014from Hugo \u0160ojus Manor to the intersection with Taikos and Egli\u0173 streets. These secrets offer a peek into the lives of a butter-maker, a builder, a dentist\u2019s office, treats in a confectionery, and the hustle and bustle of the narrow-gauge railway, bus station, or carriage post. They are even more impressive at night, as they are illuminated from within. <\/p>
