The metal arch bridge over the \u0160y\u0161a River was built in 1914. This bridge, which has historical and technical value, is located on the \u0160ilut\u0117\u2013Rusn\u0117 road, the only land route at the time leading to Rusn\u0117 Island. The bridge was designed by engineer Fabian. The need to build a bridge over the \u0160y\u0161a River arose when the construction of a small boat port began in \u0160ilokar\u010dema (now \u0160ilut\u0117).
Built at the beginning of the 20th century, the bridge increased the area’s communication significance by connecting \u0160ilut\u0117, which had formed from several villages, with the then-important Rusn\u0117 Island. Constructed with state funds, the bridge reflects the features, quality, and trends of bridge construction in the Klaip\u0117da region in the last century. Its foundations and supports are made of stone, while the span (the load-bearing structure) is a steel arch. In recent decades, the arches have been painted yellow. The bridge is 40 meters long, 5 meters wide, and 3.5 meters high, with sidewalks (pedestrian paths) with 1-meter-high railings on both sides.
