Jahrhunderts und nahm besonders im fr\u00fchen 18. Jahrhundert zu, als litauische und deutsche Handwerker aus Preu\u00dfen sich hier ansiedelten.  <br>Die erste lutherische Kirche wurde 1819 an der Stelle errichtet, an der heute das St.-Florian-Denkmal steht, wurde jedoch 1856 durch ein Feuer zerst\u00f6rt. Die heutige Kirche wurde 1867 erbaut, der Turm kam 1913 hinzu.<br>Einige unzuverl\u00e4ssige Quellen behaupten, alle evangelisch-lutherischen Gemeindemitglieder in \u0160v\u0117k\u0161na seien Deutsche gewesen. Im Gegenteil \u2013 die Mehrheit hatte litauische Herkunft und trug litauische Nachnamen wie Naujokas, Gintautas, Kalvaitis, Endrulis u. a.<br>2005 wurde die Kirche durch den Orkan \u201eErwin\u201c schwer besch\u00e4digt. Der starke Wind riss das Dach ab, und Regen durchweichte die bereits feuchte Westwand hinter dem Altar.
