Finanziert wurde der Bau von den Grafen Plater aus \u0160v\u0117k\u0161na und Vilk\u0117nai sowie durch zahlreiche Spenden der Einwohner von \u0160v\u0117k\u0161na und umliegenden Pfarreien. Ein Teil der Mittel stammte von litauischen Auswanderern in den USA.  <br>Die Kirche besteht aus drei L\u00e4ngsschiffen, die von einem Querschiff durchzogen werden. Die T\u00fcrme sind 65 Meter hoch. Im Inneren befinden sich acht Alt\u00e4re. Der Hauptaltar, fast 16 Meter hoch, sowie die Kanzel wurden in Tirol, \u00d6sterreich, in der Purger-Fabrik gefertigt. Unter dem Hauptaltar befindet sich eine Krypta.<br>Ein einzigartiger, um 1885 erbauter Fu\u00dfg\u00e4ngerbogensteg \u2013 ein Viadukt \u2013 verbindet den Kirchhof mit dem Park.
