It is a coastal land, where life is created by people and water. Its population is citizens of Lithuania and the European Union, who know how to protect the unique nature and heritage of the native land. They develop business, agriculture, fishing and tourism, for which Šilutė Region is particularly well known. The European Community descries and appreciates this country.

Šilutė Region is famous for spring floods that submerge great territories, seperating several settlements from land communication roads. For the people of Šilutė Region, especially for Rusnė residents, the floods are great concern and expense; yeat, on the other hand – the brand of the Region, attracting rubberneckers from other Lithuanian towns and abroad to admire those distinctive elements of nature. The singularity of Šilutė region is conditioned by Nemunas delta that occupies its greater part. Everybody admires the landscape of the nemunas Delta Regional park (over 28,000 ha with 14 sanctuaries and 1 reservation), in some places with exclusive nature, untouched by human hand, with heart perishing floods and polders, equipped in affluent fields.
